Best-Selling Historical Mystery Author

Jonathan F. Putnam.

Jonathan’s Lincoln and Speed historical mystery series has been a critical and commercial success.  Pulitzer Prize-winning Lincoln scholar Doris Kearns Goodwin called it, “Splendid … one of the most enjoyable works of fiction I have read in a long time."  MyShelf called Final Resting Place, "a historical masterpiece." Historical Novels Review called These Honored Dead “wonderful historical fiction” and Perish from the Earth “well-plotted, compelling and exceptional.” Publishers Weekly praised These Honored Dead in a starred review.  Shelf Pleasures called Perish from the Earth, “One of the best books I have read in a long time. I can’t recommend it highly enough… I’m certain you will be captivated by its raw and honest look at this part of American history and by the beauty of the language used to portray the people, both real and imaginary.” Jonathan has been featured by such media outlets as Fox-TV.  He was chosen to narrate an episode on the young Lincoln for the popular “10 American Presidents” podcast series.  He has given talks about Lincoln for bookstores, civic groups, libraries, and lawyer groups all around the country.

Jonathan will be the third author to appear in our new Literary Lunchbox Series in conjunction with the Sanibel Community House. This series features a variety of best-selling, nationally known authors discussing their books, writing careers and in Jonathan’s case, his extensive research into the relationship between Abraham Lincoln and Joshua Speed. Tickets are $35 each and include a copy of Final Resting Place, the latest Lincoln and Speedy Historical Novel (Hardcover $26.99) and a boxed lunch provided by the Sanibel Deli and Coffee Factory. Discussion will be followed by an opportunity to have your book personalized. Tickets can be purchased at MacIntosh Books and Paper or by calling 239-472-1447.
